JOHN M. FALK, serves as of counsel to Tew Cardenas, LLP. He represents and advises companies in the military, homeland security and advanced technology sectors in the realm of strategic partnering and federal business development. Mr. Falk specializes in Federal Administrative, Federal Litigation and Government Contract law, Intellectual Property and International Transactions for companies in the homeland security and defense technology sectors, as a lawyer, advocate and advisor.
Mr. Falk previously founded and served as President of The Willard Group, a Washington D.C.-based government relations and strategic business development firm in 1998. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Falk served as President of Compressus, Inc., which is a leading software technology company providing medical imaging solutions for health care, and bio-terrorism solutions for the Department of Homeland Security, and other federal, state and local governments. As a founder and major shareholder of Compressus, Mr. Falk remains a strategic advisor to the company in its business and investment strategies.
From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Falk served as a practicing attorney and partner with The Falk Law Firm. Mr. Falk concentrated in the areas of Corporate Litigation (Intellectual Property/Unfair Competition), High Technology, National Security with a specialty in Government Contract and Federal Administrative law.
Mr. Falk's legislative experience includes service as a Legislative Assistant to Representative James Kolbe (R-Arizona), service as a Policy Advisor to the U.S. Senate Committee on Government Affairs, and work in the Office of Senator Robert Dole (R-Kansas). Mr. Falk also served Sir Eldon Griffiths as a Research Assistant in The House of Commons-Parliament. Mr. Falk has also actively participated in various electoral campaigns at the federal and state levels. Currently, Mr. Falk is an advisor to Dr. Liam Fox, M.P., and the Conservative Party Shadow Defense Minister in the development of the Atlantic Bridge Network in the United Kingdom and in the United States.
In 1990, Mr. Falk was nominated and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the Congressional Award Foundation Board of Directors. In 2004, Mr. Falk was nominated by Senator Bill Frist and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as Chairman of the Congressional Award Foundation, reporting to the Joint Leadership Commission of the U.S. Congress, which he served until the Fall of 2007. Mr. Falk was also recognized for his public service by receiving the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Public Service from President George W. Bush.
Mr. Falk received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee University with honors in 1986, with a major in Politics and Journalism. In 1986 Mr. Falk also received the Congressional Award Gold Medal from the United States Congress for his volunteer public service, initiative and achievement. Mr. Falk returned to Washington and Lee University School of Law and received the degree of Juris Doctor in 1990, as well as the University Service Award and the Francis J. Gilliam Prize.
Mr. Falk is admitted to the Bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Mr. Falk has been admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Fourth Circuit and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Mr. Falk was named in Who’s Who In American Law for 1998, 1999 and 2000.
