Congressional Award Gold Medal Ceremony

Each year, the Congressional Award celebrates the accomplishments of its Gold Medalists through the annual Gold Medal Ceremony.  The June event brings together Gold Medalists from across the country for a week of celebration with the ceremony, reception and a week-long program.  Due to the large number of medalists, there are usually two ceremonies on Capitol Hill on the Gold Medal day, where Members of Congress come to present the youth with their medals.  The Gold Reception is an evening event that allows medalists and their parents to come together in a more formal setting for recognition.  The Foundation’s Horizon and Leadership Awards are presented at the Gold Dinner.  The Congressional Award also hosts a Week-Long Program for medalists to come in and see the city with one another.  The cost of the program is $350 plus the cost of transportation to and from Washington, DC.  This is an exciting opportunity for Gold Medalists to create new relationships with other outstanding youth from across the country.  The week long program usually runs from the weekend before the Gold Ceremony until the day after. 

While Gold Medal Record Books may be submitted year round, due to logistical needs, we can only accept Gold Medal Record Books for a given ceremony year no later than February 1st of that year.  You may still earn the Award after the cut-off; however you would be invited to the next year’s Gold Medal Ceremony.  Revisions for record books are due by March 15th of the given year.  Details regarding the actual dates of the ceremony and other events are mailed out to our Gold Medalists as soon as we have confirmation from Congress regarding the dates.  Gold Medal packets are usually mailed out in the beginning of the Ceremony year.  For additional information on the Gold Medal Ceremony and Events please see our Gold Medal FAQ page.

Gold Medal Submission Deadlines and Event Dates:

2/1/2010 - All Record Books must be submitted to the National Office
3/15/2010 - All revisions must be submitted to the National Office
5/1/2010 - RSVP for the Gold Medal Week-Long, Ceremony, and Recognition Dinner are due to the National Office

SUBMIT PHOTOS OF YOUR ACTIVITIES!!!
We are requesting that youth submit via email (Gold@CongressionalAward.org) pictures highlighting their activities in earning their Gold Medals for the 2009 Slideshow that will be shown during the dinner. Even if a participant is not able to make the event, we would love to highlight them at the dinner. We need all submissions for the slideshow no later than June 15, 2009.
