2009 Golf Classic

The 15th Annual Congressional Award Golf Classic on July 27, 2009, was a huge success with over 100 golfers on hand at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia for a beautiful day on the links. The Annual Event provides significant funding to Congress’ program for Youth with the support of sponsors including Title Sponsor, Assurant Health Foundation.

Honorary Congressional Co-Chair, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (SC06) joined Senator Mike Enzi (WY) and Representatives Sanford Bishop (GA02), Wm. Lacy Clay (MO01), Tom Latham (IA04) , Mike McIntyre (NC07) and Laura Richardson (CA37) for the event. A number of Chiefs of Staff and Congressional Staffers were also on hand to play 18 Holes for charity. After golfers enjoyed a breakfast sponsored by Foundation Coal Corporation, they were able to get a few pointers from Golf Pro Jeremy Anderson at the practice green. Golfers welcomed the relief of the cool, air-conditioned luncheon and awards ceremony sponsored by Covanta Energy Corporation. Congressional Award Board of Directors Golf Co-Chairmen, the Hon. Kwame Brown and Mr. David Falk, presented the top three foursomes with trophies as well as the closest-to-the-pin prizes.
